A split system exists in the bedroom above the garage as a supplement to the existing heating/cooling in that room. The room is so large that the one vent didn't seem to suffice, and the distance from the HVAC units, and the room had been cooler in winter, and warmer in summer so the sellers decided to install the split system as an additional component purely for comfort reasons.
